Community Grants

Small charities and community groups in and around the Worth Valley could benefit from the Rotary Club of Haworth’s second-running of their Community Grant Scheme.

The scheme, which is operated by the club’s charitable trust, was first run in 2021 when ten organisations were awarded a grant to help them survive after emerging from the Covid pandemic.

Once again the Rotarians are making £2,000 available to fund the grant scheme in an attempt to sustain the smaller organisations which make such a big difference to the lives of the people living in the Worth Valley.

Past President Nicholas Oughtibridge, the Chairman of Charitable Trust’s trustees, said: “When we last ran our Community Grant scheme, we were overwhelmed by the quality of the applications and the clear need in our area for charitable help.

“We are one of the few charities who can support the smaller groups in the Worth Valley.  This year, following our successful Santa Fun Run, I anticipate we will be able to support a handful of organisations with grants of up to £500 each to help the people of the Worth Valley.”

Among the organisations who benefitted from the previous round of grants were Oakworth Scout Group, Friends of Haworth Central Park and Stanbury School.

Applications

Charities and other not-for-profit organisations supporting communities in the Worth Valley are eligible to apply for grants. To apply all they need is a bank account held in their own name as individuals cannot apply.

The Community Grant Scheme will be opened at 09:00 hrs on Monday, January 16th and the deadline for applications is 23:59 hrs on April 10th.

Added Nicholas: “Please bear in mind that we only have a limited amount of money available and that the process has to be competitive. The trustees will consider all the applications and announce who has been successful on Monday, April 24th.
